Book Review: You Carried Me by Melissa Ohden

This week's book is You Carried Me, the fascinating true story of Melissa Ohden, founder of the Abortion Survivors Network. I don't want to say too much, because it is truly a miraculous and astounding story. But the long and short of it is that Melissa survived an unusually harsh abortion procedure, was adopted, and searched for her birth parents after finding out the truth of her birth when in her teens. The beginning of the book is about Melissa's adopted family and her early life with them. When she finds out the truth, it goes back to explain the heartbreaking story of her birth. After dealing with emotional struggles for awhile, she ultimately carries on with her life, gets married and has children of her own, all while searching for her biological parents. The book fills the reader with different emotions on each page, from tears to suspense to joy.

Just a few days after I read (and loved!) this book, I heard that Melissa was coming to my area to speak! I was thrilled to get to go, hear her story in person (with a few details that were not in the book), and get my picture with her. I got to see her again at the 2020 March for Life, where she was a guest speaker. Please keep her in your prayers, that she moves toward traditional Catholicism. Please read the book, and check out her website, melissaohden.com.
