Book Review: Flame of White by William Hunermann
This week's book is Flame of White, an amazing biography of St Pius X by William Hunermann. After hearing many times that I needed to read it, I finally picked it up about 2 years ago, and LOVED it! The author does an amazing job bringing St Pius X to life, and portraying his gentleness, charity, humor, and especially his humility. Despite Father Sarto's many ecclesiastical promotions, his heart was always with the poor, and he never forgot his humble beginnings. He never wanted to be more than a pastor; he loved teaching catechism and spending time with his flock. The book is very moving, and includes several funny stories! Overall it was an easy and enjoyable read, and greatly increased my devotion to St Pius X!
Quote from St Pius X from The Voice of the Saints:
"Holy Communion is the shortest and safest way to Heaven."
Please read this book to grow your devotion to this humble pope! Sancte Pie Decime, ora pro nobis!
