9th Children's Book Review: Ox Cart Man by Donald Hall

 

    

    In this season, as we are preparing the garden again, I am reminded of this childhood favorite read-aloud; Ox Cart Man, by Donald Hall. It is about a simple, hardworking, and industrious family, who prepares goods together to sell at the market. It follows them throughout the year, as they work on various projects in each season. I think of my family as similar, with the animals, gardens, wood, sap, and other endeavors needing attention at the appropriate times. Ox Cart Man is a classic children's book highlighting traditional work ethic and family values.
