Prayer: The Key to Salvation by Father Michael Mueller

 J+M+J

I'm back to review the spiritual book I am currently reading; Prayer: The Key to Salvation by Father Michael Mueller. I received it from the Three Wise Men, who have visited our house every Epiphany for a few years now with a book for each of us. (Mom :) knew I liked Father Mueller's The Blessed Eucharist, so she got me this one. I have been reading it slowly, and am just over halfway through, but it had been a few weeks since I posted, so I decided to review it anyway.

I have found parts of the book slow and dry, but other parts are really interesting and helpful. The book explains why prayer is necessary in the first place, and then proceeds to break down the aspects necessary to fruitful prayer. My favorite chapter so far was the one about the effects of the prayers of the just. In today's world, with the continual doom and gloom, it is easy to lose trust in God and the effectiveness of our prayers. So it was a lovely reminder to read the examples of Biblical figures and Saints who have called down the mercy of God on their nation when He was about to chastise the people. It is so beautiful to think of prayer as persuading God.

Blogger must have updated lately, because I can't figure out how to upload a picture this time. But Prayer; The Key to Salvation is published by TAN Books, so you can find it on their website (tanbooks.com). I recommend that you check this book out if you are looking for good spiritual reading in general or if you want to dive into a deeper prayer life.

I'll be back next week with a review on the other book I am currently reading! Stay tuned! Have a blessed Lent!
